Financial Audit

Building trust in cost data

The popularity of ‘open book’ and ‘target cost’ contracts has necessitated the need for the assessment of cost data and verification that it is accurate, isn’t over or under stated and is consistently measured.

Very often this extends beyond the boundaries of agreed knowledge sharing between the contracting parties, so the audit needs to be independent and conducted confidentially. Shilcocks has a dedicated team who provide this service to a variety of clients, against the code of ethics and rules of disclosure set out by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAEW).

Etymology

From late Middle English: from Latin auditus ‘hearing’, from audire ‘hear’, in medieval Latin auditus (compoti) ‘audit (of an account)’, an audit originally being presented orally.
